ELOISA WANTS US TO BE MILLIONAIRES.... IN OTHER WORDS.... LET'S MEMOIR -- CREATIVELY!
Now I'll bet you've all heard about James Frey's little problem with his memoir, A Million Little Pieces. In case you haven't, the main problem is that James made up a lot of it. He said he did major jail time (3 hours before being bailed out), he said he played a tragic role in a train accident killing two girls (absolutely not, says one of the girl's mothers), etc. etc. My favorite line from all the recent reporting comes from Frey himself who, when confronted with these little discrepancy issues, said "There's nothing at this point can come out of this conversation that, that is good for me." Well...yeah. Here's the link if you want to learn more: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/jamesfrey/0104061jamesfrey1.html
Anyway -- what we need to do is learn from this! That's what he wrote the memoir for, right? So we could all learn not to be "Criminals" like himself (as he puts it in his book).
SO: Let's all think memoir. Think a few years into the future...what are you going to make up? Remember: the more criminal you are, the more money you make. Drugs & alcohol are useful because medical records are sealed. It's hard to disguise what race you are, so better forget that one. Also...if your parents are still alive, no claiming you're an orphan. It's too easy for those pesky reporters to find out!
Give us 3-4 sentences on your Future Memoir. End of the day, the Squawkers will vote on the one of you most likely to sell a gazillion copies ! Connie reminds me that the Squawkers are eligible to enter the contest too!
